Minnesotans Invited to Submit a New State Park License Plate Design
Minnesota’s state park license plate hasn’t been redesigned since 2016, and now the state is calling on residents to create the next one. The 2026 Minnesota Legislature chose the theme — the North Shore and Lake Superior agates — and Minnesotans are invited to enter a design contest drawing inspiration from the region’s rugged coastline, dense forests, and iconic rock formations.
The state parks and trails plate costs $60 annually and doubles as your state park vehicle permit, granting access to every Minnesota state park and recreation area for the year. Proceeds go directly toward maintaining and improving the state’s parks and trails.
Digital submissions will be accepted from September 15 to October 31, 2026. Minnesota is ready to see what you design.
