Come out to Glendalough State Park on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to enjoy a lantern lit path through the woods!
A mile of trail will be illuminated by lanterns and an almost-full moon. The trail starts at the Dining Hall and is suitable for beginner-level hikers and snowshoers of all ages. The evening wraps up with a cup of hot cider near a crackling bonfire.
Snowshoes can be rented in-person at the park, after 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event, while supplies last.
SAVE TIME: Get a vehicle permit online before you go.
A vehicle permit is required to enter Minnesota state parks and recreation areas. The DNR recommends buying permits in advance at the state park vehicle permit website (mndnr.gov/permit). The cost is $7 per day, or $35 for a year-round permit.
In the event of severe weather, call the Glendalough State Park office at (218)261-6900 for updates or check alerts and notices on the park website at mndnr.gov/glendalough. This event may be cancelled if windchill temperatures are at or below -15 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the event.
Other candlelight events will take place throughout the state in January and February, offering a variety of terrain and scenery. For the complete schedule – including dates, times and other details, visit the candlelight events webpage (mndnr.gov/candlelight).
