Minnesota voters passed the Legacy Amendment with the promise of new investment in our parks — including a goal to add five new state parks or recreation areas by 2034. But we’re more than halfway to that deadline and moving in the wrong direction, with a net loss of one park since 2011.
We wrote to the Star Tribune to highlight the DNR’s own Parks and Trails Legacy Plan and call on the agency to recommit to this goal before time runs out.
