While others flock to busy stores, celebrate Free Park Day at MN State Parks with a nature walk.
You’ve seen and heard woodpeckers, but how much do you know about them? Seven woodpecker species are at home in the park, including the rare Red-headed Woodpecker. Discover the connection to oak savannas and the restoration work the park is doing on this one-mile stroll. Part of the trail will be paved, and part will be mowed grass. We’ll search for real woodpeckers and do easy activities to discover what these birds are all about.
Meet at the Visitor Center at 1 p.m. Binoculars provided.
