Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Financial support from our individual members is critical to fulfilling Parks & Trails Council’s mission, and we value and respect our donors’ right to privacy. Maintaining a strong, trusting relationship with our members is essential to this vital source of support. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that our members’ trust and faith in us is well placed and deserved.

Parks & Trails Council collects and uses personal information such as name, address, phone number, and email address when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. In addition, Parks & Trails Council keeps a record of each member’s giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes, grant reports and other purposes required by law. This information is also used by Parks & Trails Council to analyze overall giving patterns for management and budgeting purposes. Only Parks & Trails Council staff, the Board President and the Development Committee Chair has access to a donor’s individual giving history.

Parks & Trails Council DOES NOT sell our membership data. On occasion, Parks & Trails Council shares the names and addresses of its members for one-time use with well established, like-minded organizations that may have information of interest for the recipients – but only when it aligns with Parks & Trails Council’s mission and only with the board’s approval.

Personal account number information is never disclosed for any purpose. Members may contact the staff at Parks & Trails Council at any time to request that their name not be shared. Parks & Trails Council will honor all such requests to the best of our ability.

Donors may be recognized in publications; all requests for individual gifts to remain anonymous are honored. If a donor chooses to remain anonymous, their information is made available only to Parks & Trails Council staff and board.

This Donor Privacy Policy is made available through the Parks & Trails Council’s website. A printed copy will be mailed to a donor upon request.
