SUMMARY:Seed Collecting Workday
DESCRIPTION:The Prairie Care program is working to diversify 500 acres of p
 rairie at Wild River. We collect seeds from about 80 species of prairie pl
 ants each year and make seed mixes to spread after prescribed burns. Join 
 us for a couple hours of seed collection. No experience is necessary.\n\nW
 e will provide tick gaiters\, collecting buckets\, and safety information.
  Please wear sunscreen\, a hat\, sunglasses\, long pants\, long sleeves an
 d sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. Bring a full water bottle and work gloves. If
  the weather is hot\, light-colored\, light-weight clothing is best. If it
 's cold\, bring layers.\n\nWe will be walking off-trail into some beautifu
 l prairie areas. Depending on the time of year we may see harmless snakes.
 \n\nIf you enjoy this work\, you may decide to become a Species Steward an
 d "adopt" one or more species to monitor and collect on your own.\n\nMeet 
 at the trail center (not the visitor center).
