Most of us are familiar with our local law enforcement’s K-9 (or dog) unit, but did you know that the Minnesota Department of Resources also has a K-9 unit? The DNR Enforcement Division’s K9 unit has six handler/dog teams that have increased the division’s effectiveness and efficiency in detecting fish and game violations, the presence of aquatic invasive species, evidence recovery, officer protection, and location of missing persons. Join us at the Whitewater HOP program as Officer Julie Siems and her dog, Brady share just what the K-9 unit is about and the special skills they utilize to help protect our natural resources.
The monthly HOP Program (Healthy Older People) is made possible with support from the Friends of Whitewater State Park.
