We have an exciting June HOP webinar planned! Michael Joyce, PhD, Wildlife Ecologist and Research Scientist from the Natural Resources Research Institute, University of Minnesota Duluth, will be joining us to share his knowledge of and research on fishers in Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota DNR they were nearly extinct in Minnesota in the early 1900’s, but by the late 1970’s the population had recovered enough to allow a regulated trapping harvest.
Dr. Joyce’s research is focused on the population decline in their core range of northern Minnesota whilst an apparent and unusual increase in their population in areas outside their core range, which includes southeast Minnesota.
