SF 3699 – Faribault Northern Links trail bond issue and appropriation.
Final Language in Law
None – not passed
Proposed Project Overview
Connecting Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail with Faribault’s city trails that lead to the downtown area.
2018 Identified Need
$710,000
Project Impact
The Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail currently starts in Mankato and travels 39 miles to Faribault. The trail’s terminus, however, is disconnected from Faribault’s city trail system and downtown, making it difficult for trail users to explore the city. This project would create a vital link in the city’s trail system, and also link the western side of Faribault with the rest of the community and the region’s largest regional park.
Project Support
Grassroots initiative in partnership with the city of Faribault Parks and Recreation.
Bill Status: Not Funded in 2018
Bills (HF 4089 & SF 3699) drafted that appropriate $710,000 for a grant to the city of Faribault for development of the Northern Links Trail, creating a connection between downtown Faribault and the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail.
Bills referred to committees on 3/21/18.
Bills not included in final bonding bill.
