Friends Groups invited to participate in photo contest

Parks & Trails Council is hosting its 2024 Photo Contest and there are two ways Friends Group Partners can get involved.

Promote the Photo Contest

All P&TC’s Friends Group Partners are encouraged to share our photo contest with their membership. It’s a great way to showcase the natural beauty of your park or trail. All photos are displayed on our website, and the winners receive some great prizes, including MN State Parks gift cards. The first-place photos from each category will be featured in Minnesota Trails Magazine. All photos will also be considered for placement in P&TC’s upcoming calendar, which is mailed to members in the fall.

How to promote:

Thank you! We appreciate you sharing this opportunity.

We also invite Friends Group Partner members to help judge the photo contest. It’s a fun and easy job!

Judging happens by regional category. To avoid any perception of bias, we ask that Friends Group members please do NOT sign up for the regional category in which your park or trail is located. Below is the list of regional categories and the list of parks and trails within each.

Judges will be sent a Google Form with the top 10-20 photos from each category. Within the Google Form, you’ll be asked to rate each photo (high, medium, low) on its Content, Composition, and Technical Quality.

Estimated time is about 15 minutes per category. Judging can be completed anytime between Monday, July 29 – Wednesday July 31.

Thank you for considering being involved this way and helping to make this a quality photo contest!
