Proposed Project Overview
For predesign and engineering of a 25-mile spur of the Heartland State Trail that will connect Itasca State Park to Park Rapids.
The planned trail will be located primarily in county and state-owned lands, showcasing the abundant natural and cultural resources of the region. Future trail users will get to experience a working forest, open grassland, old-growth forest, wetlands, and lakes. The trail will increase outdoor opportunities for cyclists, walkers, snowmobilers, families and children, serving both area residents and tourists to the region.
