Nineteen projects receive funding during 2018 legislative session

Overall, the 2018 legislative session was a fairly good one for parks and trails. On May 30, Gov. Dayton signed the bonding bill, which included funding for 19 of the 25 projects we were advocating for in our legislative agenda this year.

Projects receiving full funding include:

• Chester Woods State Trail
• Glendalough State Park
• Harmony-Preston State Trail
• Jay Cooke State Park
• Mesabi Regional Trail
• Minneopa State Park
• Scenic State Park
• Sibley State Park
• Superior Hiking Trail
• Swedish Immigrant Trail
• Wagon Wheel Regional Trail

Projects receiving partial funding include:

• Goodhue Pioneer State Trail
• Lake Vermilion State Park
• Local parks and trails grants program
• Metropolitan Parks and Trails
• Mill Towns State Trail
• Mississippi Blufflands State Trail
• State Parks accessibility enhancements
• State Park rehab projects

Projects receiving NO funding include:

• Blazing Star State Trail
• Cannon Valley Trail
• Faribault-Northern Links Trail
• Frontenac State Park (although we are celebrating the boundary expansion)
• Gitchi-Gami State Trail
• Heartland State Trail
• Preston-Forestville State Trail
