The SMART Connections Workshop brings together a dynamic collaboration of diverse Southeastern Minnesota organizations who share common ground. Designed specifically to build and strengthen lasting partnerships between park groups, trail groups, community leaders, public agencies and businesses, the SMART Connections Workshop will feature a keynote address from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Commissioner Mark Holsten, who will share the DNR’s vision for building and strengthening these community connections in the future.
There is no doubt that Southeastern Minnesota's trails and parks provide a vast array of opportunities for recreation, interpretation, tourism and economic sustainability. The long-term future of our region is enhanced when we work together to create, protect and enhance the outdoor treasures that make it all possible.
The SMART Connections Workshop will provide a forum for discussion and networking on issues relating to maintaining and enhancing Southeastern Minnesota's trails and parks. It will provide the framework for a new way of thinking about creating connections to the outdoors.
This workshop is co-hosted by Parks & Trails Council of Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). Special thanks to the McKnight Foundation for providing significant funding to make education and outreach events like the SMART Connections Workshop possible.
